Day at the Capitol

SkillsUSA Day at the State Capitol

**New! This year SkillsUSA GA will be joining all GA CTSOs for one big day of advocacy at the Capitol. Each chapter is still encouraged to make appointments to visit their legislator as that is the purpose of this event. The GA CTSO Coordinator will work to secure a time and location for a group photo with the Governor. Those details will be released closer to date.**

This gives members and advisors an opportunity to visit the State Capitol while the General Assembly is in session. It is our best opportunity to inform legislators of the value of SkillsUSA and Career, Technical and Agricultural Education. Legislators rely heavily on the viewpoints expressed by their local constituents when they make important decisions regarding educational issues. A day spent actively participating and engaged with our legislators provides an effective voice for our organization. A visit to the Georgia Capitol also offers students an opportunity to view first-hand state government in action and to learn about the judicial and lawmaking processes.

** The agenda for the Day at the Capitol is your legislative appointments only. There is no official meeting prior to or after your appointments. Materials for your meeting(s) with your legislators will be mailed to you by February 14, 2018.

Advisors should use the lesson plan provided to prep students for their visits with their legislator.
